*BREAKING* Kansas City does something right for once! *BREAKING*

As reported by the Kansas City Star this morning, Ray Lahood came on down to KC to hand this desperate, yet beloved city a check for $50M dollars. Apparently the money will be split a couple of ways to both Missouri sides of KC and Kansas. The main allotment, however, will be for Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II’s Green Impact Zone — a multi-million dollar initiative to focus federal funds on a, in this case, specific target area. Other parts of the TIGER funds will be used to rebuild infrastructure in the urban-core.
Although I don’t live in the impact zone (I live nine blocks south of it) I can attest to the fact this unprecendented amount of money has never, EVER been seen in the area for something like this. I have two words: THANK GOD. Everyday I see children walking in the middle of the street because the sidewalks look to be victims of an earthquake — buckled and crumbling. The streets are filled with potholes. My car is in the shop right now because of this.
If there was one person against Obama’s cyclical federal spending in KC, they’re quite tacit tonight!
Much credit is due to the efforts of officials at the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II. May a place in heaven be made especially hospitable to these folks!
